Anyone wanna buy an Agfa Optima 1A for......

Hehe. I have one the same, i am willing to part with it for, say... 166 bucks negotiable. Anybody?

More seriously...what's the story with these "optima"-s? What kind of film do they accept? the film chamber is very strange and i have a cassette inside that has no spool - not even holes on the side for spools. And the couinter goes up to 12 only. Still the framesize is 24x36.

That's probably for Rapid/Karat type cassettes - there is one the exposed film is wound int an empty cassette.

My dad had a Agfa Silette Rapid in the 70s that used Rapid cassettes. They had ordinary 35mm film. If you've two cassettes (which no-one has of course, as you dropped off the full cassette at the drugstore) you can fill one with a slice of 35mm film corresponding to 12 exposures, and retrieve the exposed film from the other. As there are no reels inside the Rapid cassettes, the film is not pulled into the cassette completely, but merely as far as the sprocket in the camera could 'push it'.

I tried this cannister loading once, and though it kind of worked, it was such a pain that I never bothered with it again..

Needless to say, that from a user point of view, these Rapid cameras have zero value..

yeah, that was what i suspected, the counter cogwheel pushes the film into the cassette. Weird concept. I wonder what should I do with mine. It's really "mint" 🙂 and it was given by a friend whos father wanted to throw it out. Boy i think I am in trouble if the first person they think of giving junk to is me!

Pherdinand, if you don't want it as a shelf sitter (display item) put it up for auction. I am sure someone out there would want it. Plus, whatever yoyu get for it would be all profit.
