I have an early version (knurled knob with black face plate) APDOO. After it triggers the shutter of my nickel III, I cannot turn the film advance knob for the next frame. I need to remove it before I can turn the advance knob. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

You have to adapt - shorten - the part of the APDOO that is actually pushing the release button of the camera. It has a screw to do that; in fact that screw touches the release button.

Erik.

Curse you, Mojo. In opening the Leica Accessory Guide to find what an APDOO is, I spotted a SGOOD. I am sure they are rare as hens' teeth - perhaps as rare as hens molars - but (1) what a great name and (2) I could use a good VF for an 85mm lens!

Sadly there is no reason to have a camera with a NOOKY - SGOOD combination.

On e-bay several years ago, I found a HEBOO - looks similar to an APDOO, but is a slow-speeds attachment for a Leica Standard or II.

It went for less than $50 and I cheaped-out.

Haven't seen one since.

:bang:

Thanks Erik. To confirm, are you saying that the screw was adjusted too deep and that after it fired the shutter, it kept pressure on the shuttle button (down) therefore preventing the film advance knob from turning to advance the film. I will try tomorrow.

There is a Summarex on xBay now at little over a grand-7 hrs left. Too rich for my blood.

Thanks, too rich for me, too. I paid less than $100 for my Nikkor 85mm in LTM. But at least I can say I've seen a picture of a real live SGOOD, even if I'd have to spend $3K to get it, and the Summarex it's with.

Exactly.

Erik.

Thanks Erik. Upon your advice, I reduced the stroke length; now I can turn the film advance knob for the next frame with the APDOO attached.

BTW, thank you and others for continually posting fine examples on what vintage lenses can produce. I have early 60's M's but have been using my screw mounts more often. I like to match what I want to shoot with equipment reflecting the period.
