Aperture 3 - Where did my pictures go??

I've been using Aperture 3 since it came out and I like it a lot. But today something weird happened: After importing some photos into a new project I suddenly can't see the pictures. This is really weird. I mean, I know they're there. The info window shows that the project contains 33 images, I just can't see them. What the h--- is this?😱

All other projects and folders are fine.

Anyone?

Aperture imports them into the library file, treating the library as a container. You can tell Aperture not to "merge" your images.

Thanks, but that's not what I mean. I mean I can't see them IN Apreture, in the viewer.

In the browser mode look at the upper right and make sure that you don't have conditions for display selected that prevent viewing. For example, if you require a high rating to display a photo, but have yet to rate photos, you will not display a single photo. I know that you didn't set any conditions, but this is a way that images appear to have been lost.

arnulf, did you type anything in the search window? If you did and no photos have that in them, none will show.

I can not see them in the browser window. And there's nothing in the search bar.

Anyway, I solved it by exporting the whole project as a new library and then imported it again. The new project works fine. So I'm happy again.

Still, I really wonder what the hell that was all about. It must be some kind of weird bug. I mean, I've been using Aperture for many years so I know how it works but this one was really weird..

That's exactly the mistake I made just an hour ago.

Aperture 3 is still a fairly new release. Have you checked for updates? The current version is 3.0.2 and the update fixed a number of import and viewing bugs.

I know this isn't helpful for this instance, but it was database instability that caused me to abandon Aperture and switch to Lightroom. I actually experienced data loss with Aperture, which is really quite unusual for most software.

When that happen, I just quit Aperture and restart. It seems to be a bug plaguing a good number of users.
