As we all know, Aperture is going away and being replaced by Photo. Just announced is a possible alternative to Adobe's Lightroom, it's Capture One Pro 8 and it has 'import from Aperture' http://petapixel.com/2014/09/17/pha...-with-simple-migration-and-solid-feature-set/

I'm disappointed about Aperture going away, but it won't actually affect me per se...it's working great now with my current stable of optical tools.
The question on my mind...how long will Mac OS's of the future support the old software? Seems Lightroom is the only other "mature" platform. Then again, we haven't seen Apple Photo yet, but I'm cringing in anticipation of another consumer-oriented "app" instead of professional software.

The latest RAW support for Aperture 3 was announced, now I have no new cameras but thought who knows it may add something else.
Advertised for V3, I am running that, but won't load as I am on 10.68, and can't take higher due to the age !!! of the Mac book Pro. Compatibility, make me laugh.

It's easy to be pessimistic but I'm going with optimism for "Photos".
It seems unlikely to me that Apple would give up any of the marketplace by leaving any of Apertures present set of tools out of the new program.
It just makes no sense at all. Why not use what you already have to attract new users to your new platform?
Of course this could be flawed thinking. I guess we have to wait and see. I'm hoping for the best.
I use CO7 to process Fuji Raws whn it was ahead of both Aperture and Adobe.
It's my fallback at this point. I like LR but don't trust Adobe.
They received so much money from me in the past for licenses that I could not get from them when a machine was stolen.
They simply said... "we are sorry but you must purchase a new license"... complete BS!
Apple, Capture one, and all other licenses were completely accommodating.

OS X Yosemite, coming in October, Photos will either be in the initial release or I read somewhere in early 2015. I too am optimistic about Photos that it "could" be a Aperture replacement?

Adobe is so giving me the creeps of late. Had LR installed on my machine at work. Added Photoshop CC and InDesign CC and now it won't let me update my old version of LR. Wants me to install LR CC to get updates. The writing is on the wall.
Looking forward to seeing the new apple Photos App.
