When I was poorer, the $20 I saved going grey-market on my 50mm AF-D Nikkor was kind of a lot of money. And besides, I told the salesman, I have nikkors that are twice my age and they're fine.
Well... now less than two years later, my trusty, plastic fifty isn' acting right. When working the aperture ring manually, it doesn't get bigger than f2. mounted on my D700, its not opening up more than what looks to be about f2.8. Its a backup lens at this point, playing second fiddle to my 1.4G, but as I'm packing for a job, I'm wishing I could throw it in my bag as a backup.
Having gone grey market, I doubt there are any options that involve Nikon.
The blades have no visible oil on them. The blades are fast, but the lever (the one that the camera actuates) hits a stop before the blades open fully. I'm not sure what the issue is. Are these a disaster to open up?
