Aperture priority adapter & manual Panasonic L 1 ?

Hi
If I put a manual Rokkor with adapter on the L 1 and leave the shutter dial on ''A" , it swiches to ' b ' . Can I not use aperture priority ?

My Dig 3 works fine on aperture priority , which is useful in that if I do not have to stop down precisely to obtain the correct exposure .
