appeal of film over digital?

Sky King?
Yep. Sky King - Wikipedia

I'm from Florida, so quoting Jimmy Buffett, you guys are speaking my language. Sky King was a bit before my time though. I never bothered to look up the reference before, but Penny was cute!

My daughter likes watching old TV shows on YouTube or whatever other channels of streaming nonsense they're on. Reminded me what a crush I had on Samantha from Bewitched and Morticia Addams.

I agree completely. I just meant that my particular instax camera is a digital camera that can print to instax. I'm probably one of the few who has no issue with the banana taped to the wall selling for millions. ;)
My only issue is that I didn't have the chance to do it first. ;) Those millions would have come in handy, for sure.

As a biochemist, I can assure you that we have IT bods who set everything up to auto-backup. But surely it's just like storing your negs properly? - and not having to re-print from scratch if you ever go back to one?
OK, reality check: How many of us film shooters are really lax about storing, filing, and archiving our negs, slides, prints, whatever? My hand is up!
While I'm pretty OCD about so many things, this is not one of them. It's drudge work, and I enjoy it about as much as changing the kitty litter. Maybe I need a "studio assistant"? But first I'll need a studio...

I believe G W Beldam shot golf on large format circa 1905, though as I have no interest in golf I've never gone further than his cricket photography, which interests me very much. That would get you noticed on the course!

No way a plastic sleeve and negative binder is the same as multi hundred dollar hard drives and then duplicates either in cloud (with subscription costs) or copied drives in a different location.

Barring a house fire, I’d say the percentage of hard drive failure or corruption is higher than that.

I love both as they both do what I want them to, when I need them to, the beauty of choice, although when I pick up my OM1 I do still get goosebumps....

Yup.

That Penny was sure a good looking little lady.

Hi Santino,
I am Roman. Recently since I am retired I do not stay in Rome full time, but I am always in Italy.
If you have suggestions for E6 labsI would greatly appreciate them.

I can't find one in mine either. 1958 dual stroke. I managed to fit 135 film cassettes in it but am totally at a loss when it comes to the SD slot. Help, anyone?
Your camera is defective. Probably only good for parts. Send it to me, and I will dispose of it, because I'm a nice guy and I want to be helpful.

I plead guilty to the same about my digital folders. Am about 20 behind so far, and that's only from November and December. The number of folders I've marked PE (partly edited) and NE (not edited) is now so large, and it depresses me so much to look at them, that I avoid the matter entirely. Typical for me.

This year, much like in 2024, 2023, 2022 et al, I made the NY resolution to FINALLY get busy and do something about the state of my archives. Also to take fewer photos and concentrate on making those few I take, more relevant and less needful of post-processing. Which resolution lasted about two days.

Life goes on. Sometimes in circles, often in squares. Inside those squares, I mean. We survive.

A new Nikon Z later in the year will surely resolve all these problems. So he believes...

This is where photo cataloging software (Lightroom, Photos, Affinity, Photo Mechanic...etc...etc ) makes a *huge* difference.....

The appeal of digital over film is that I can make many more photographs at no cost and experiment much more easily, The difficulty is that when I make many more photographs, I have to spend a good bit more time studying them, rendering them, and finishing them ... sometimes the 12 frames I get from a roll of 120 film in the Hasselblad seems like just the right amount to shoot in a day, or a week, by comparison.

The appeal of film over digital is that I have tons of lovely old film cameras that I enjoy using, and I love the defects that are inevitable in film images vs the often oh-so-perfect results from a quality digital camera. The downside of film vs digital is that those 12 photographs made with the Hasselblad cost me at least a couple hours more time to obtain photos from ...
