I'm a big fan of the Sigma ART lenses. I own the 24mm, 35mm and 50mm, and will likely purchase the recently-announced 14mm/1.8 and 135mm/1.8.

If you're a fan of Sigma ART lenses, chime in -- which ones do you own? Any thoughts about the announced 14mm/1.8 and/or 135mm/1.8?

Post your photos (please identify the lens).

Here are a couple of mine -- both from the 35mm/1.4 (Nikon D800e).

They're sharp, but you should put a warning in your post about that last shot for us vegetarian/cruelty free types. It will be quite a long time getting that awful image out of my head.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone, but there's a back story to this photo.

The slaughterhouse had withstood the test of time and survived the challenges of a third-world economy until it was closed down last year due to local political greed and corruption. Until that time, it had provided a steady income for the local men. To this day, some of these men continue to struggle to find jobs and earn a steady living. I was documenting "the good old days" for these hard-working men, who worked six days a week and whose work days started at 3am.

Trigger warnings on RFF. Here we go.

The ART lenses are pretty remarkable, especially to your average working photographer. Pro's now have truely serious 3rd party options that bring the goods at a massive discount. I really only own 1 Nikkor lens now, the 58/1.4G. Otherwise I use the Siggy 35 & 24. I actually would have been interested in the 1.8G versions of these focal lengths but the price comes out to be the same as a Siggy ART so, there it is.

I also have their USB dongle and it's very useful if you shoot with an F6 or F100. I calibrate my lenses to not need adjustment on a digital body, and then I know they're not going to miss on film. And I can tell you that on film, they're still amazing!

My only complaint is the size and weight. They don't come out for personal work much, but then again I mostly shoot that with my M4/Rollei/Pentax 6x7.

Sigma

Sigma

I've had very good luck with Sigma, whether third tier or not, or, 'professional' that depends on the shooter. If I shoot a Sigma then it is professional.

I shoot some pretty unsafe territory and events. If you are a hiker, canoe paddler, street shooter, or at events where there will be cops and, or, shouting, etc., go ahead and bring your $3000 lens. It's all about getting the shot. In the end, a missed shot is 'might have been' art/craft.

i have been really interested in the 35mm lens. But have been scared off by some people having AF issues - for some the lens randomly back or front focuses.
It seems if you get a good one u are set. Which is why I have been hesitant as there is a seller from HK who is $300 cheaper than B&H. But if I get a bad one, it would be a serious pain dealing with that.

Any chance u can post a pic u took on film with the 35mm?

I use the 24, 35 and 50mm Sigma Art lenses. I enjoy them very much!

Size & weight — yes, they are big & heavy!

I have the 50, also on a Nikon D800e where it is stellar.
For many years I had the Sigma 150 f2.8 macro, not an Art lens but exceptional nevertheless.

I notice that the members on DPReview cannot let mention of Sigma go without complaining about the size and weight. At RFF we overlook or, at least live with it because of its fine performance as trade off.
Shows where priorities lie here compared to there.

btw, I am not aiming this comment at you, Fotobot...you simply stated they are "big and heavy"---which they are. You didn't complain about it.

I have the 30mm f1.4, 35mm f1.4 and 18-35 f1.8 zoom lens. I use these on the SD1 Merrill and the Sd Quattro. It is true that the auto-focus is slow but for what I do I often focus manually.

Here are a few taken with the 18-35 f1.8 zoom lens on my Sd Quattro; witch is the 35mm equvllent of 27-52mm on the foveon crop sensor.

I'd love to havesome 2.8 or 4.0 versions of them with stabilisation. If I'm taking along those sizes and weights I'll prefer medium format.

Big and Heavy? Not!

Big and Heavy? Not!

Canon 40D, and equivalent of Canon 2.8 17-55mm, Sigma 2.8 17-50mm, same size and at HALF the cost:

I have two and an older 50mm but would definitely like a few more ... and then I'd have an even better excuse to buy the new Quattro H. lol :D

I have and love the 35mm and 50mm, both absolutely stunning lenses, and have replaced their Canon counterparts in my bag.

My work bag has a 28mm Canon (there's no Sigma Art 28 yet) Sigma 35, and 50, and Canon 85 and 100mm.

I'm definitely interested in the Sigma 85mm Art, I'd like to play with the 20mm, but I'd probably have limited use for it.

To the OP: you know - they're sharp, but they are shot with Nikon. You should post a warning for those of us who are Nikon-phobic. It will be a long time before I can get that awful Nikon thought out of my mind.
