There are people camped at my local Apple store since last night!!
How is it at your location?
Hey it takes pictures too:angel:

Anyone getting one?

if this wasn't posted by you, Kiu, I would have sworn that the spammers got a little higher-class since last time...;)

eiik

Did you push the little orange button or will I... clearly someone has compromised Kiu's password.

There is no stuff, outside of RF stuff, that I would wait in line for, other than peach ice cream. None!

<sheepish>

I have waited in line, in the cold dark for videogames.

</sheepish>

But a mobile phone!? Bugger me - the world is melting.

According to one article I read it will cost $2000 more per year to use than other phone services.

I'm not standing in line for it!!!

I'm heading through Denver and called the Apple store this morning. There were over 100 people in line there then. The guy didn't know then how many they were getting.
The feature I like most is the full browser. No more mini pages and crippled content. Surf while driving. I'm not big into cell phones, I have a basic Motorola V551 for a couple of years. It doesn't seem to have enough storage at this time, but will still make for nice photo viewing.
Too bad it can't be used as a modem either, but Cingular, make that ATT, isn't on par with Verizon in data transmission yet. I have a Verizon Data Card.
That article you read was total BS colyn. The plans were just announced recently. Any current ATT customer gets unlimited data and a couple hundred text mssgs per month for just 20 bucks added to whatever plan they already have.
New customer plans start at $60.00/month, including unlimited data and email,450 minutes, 200 text mssgs, and 5000 night/weekend minutes. Unlimited mobile to mobile too. That's all from memory but I think it is accurate. 2 yr plan like all the rest. $80.00 per month gets you 900 minutes and unlimited nights/weekends plus all the other stuff. $36.00 activation fee. Typical pricing if not downright cheap considering unlimited data. And of course 5 or 600 for the phone itself. I found the link:

I can admit that one, too. Waited for Final Fantasy XII. Luckily I won't have to wait for Persona 3.

I must be old fashioned. I want my phone to be a phone, my camera to be a camera, my MP3 player to play music, and my browser on a laptop...

I'll admit I've waited in line for Bob Dylan tickets, and maybe one or two other musicians, not to mention the occaisional Star Wars or Star Trek movie. But a phone?

But the iPhone does look like it has a pretty slick interface. Apple always did have a knack for that. I'm sure they'll sell a boatload of them...

Bob Dylan tickets are worth waiting in line for, but whwn I saw him in Philly in 81 or 82 I didn't have to wait and gut fantastic seats. Any one ever been to the Bob Dylan Pub in Majorica? It's cool.

Are you serious? Research shows that even using a handsfree will reduce your ability to drive safely and you want to surf the internet while driving?

Remind me about this, should I ever want to go to LA...

You're not alone!

Agree. :)

I just caught a quip on the radio, can't remember it verbatim, but they described an Iphone malady, where the sufferer spends more time talking about it than talking on it. :)

Seriously, this has to be the most successful participatory media blitz of all time!

I've seen longer lines in the past where computer types were lined up in front of CompUSA to buy various versions of Windows. (I was leaving a bookstore, not in the geek line).

But yeah, the media blitzes around product launches these days is amusing.

The only places I wait in line are at the Airport and Supermarket. The Iphone will be there tomorrow or next week. So...where are the photos?

That's Nothing!

That's Nothing!

Add $800.00 for the bluetooth headset, $400.00 more for the vinyl OEM case, and $150.00 for a single screen protector, which won't even be available for two more years, and well, you do the math!

Just kidding memphis. I guess you missed my post and link above. The iphone (I didn't wait in line for it, but I did see Bob Dylan at the Hollywood Palladium) is not much more money than the Razr upon introduction, and the rate plans are very reasonable. Since it allows the full internet in your pocket, plus portable music, movies, photos, email, and yeah, its even a camera, I think it will sell well.

$2000 yearly service + $600 for the phone... == $2600 usd - that's a hell of a lot of camera that I could buy instead... besides, the only people that call me are bill collectors

I certainly hope it sells well, as I have some Apple stock that perhaps will go up another 30% or so... Love the hype! :D But I am content with my RAZR for the present.

only time I camped out for anything was when I needed to get #1 son into a specific preschool.

he got in and #2 son was automatic the next year....

Do you have a link to that article? I've never heard that before.
