April 8 - Madison, WI RFF Gathering?

...and it's sold! OK, I really have to calculate the gas, trip length, etc. I really want to go, guys.

Hmm... should I bring the whole arsenal, or just the bigguns?

You gotta go, if only as a proxy for a guy who would but can't. Pretend that Franka
Solida is instead Franka Potenta and that'll make the trip easier.

Hey, If you can make it a couple of weeks later in April I could make it. Vacation starts on the 22nd.

that's up to William.. he's the chairperson of this event.. it would be great to have you, tho

gabriel, we're really glad you're thinking of making the trip, too!

My thinking is that it's an excellent excuse to have another get together when you're available, Wayne. Does the 22nd or 29th work better for you?

William

Thanks, me too. I'm tickled pink (and poiple, and a hint of orange). 😎

Just got a refund check notice today. Sounds like that's my travel money. Now, to think about the logistics. I've only been to Madison once in my life; only know one friend in Chicago and another in Milwaukee (from way back when, but haven't seen them in years); the one in Chicago is going to Colorado that weekend, I think.

I mentioned "Great Dane" to my girlfriend (she went to UW @ Madison for a few years) and she went "...hmm". I don't know what that means. Anybody got their phasers on "translate"?

William,

The 29th is better for me.

Wayne

so the answer right now is two events?

April 8th and another one a couple weeks later? alright.. keep us posted

Forgot I'd only mentioned it in PM - but that is correct. Both dates are Saturdays and will be at the Pool Room bar at the Great Dane.

April 8, 2006 & April 29, 2006 @ 1:00PM.

Anyone & everyone is welcome to come by and shoot the breeze &/or film 🙂

William

It's a real shame that I'm taking the ACT on the 8th, I'd love to haul my stuff from the cities back to Madison for a day...

also, gabrielma: do you live in the cities proper or outside, like Eden Prairie, Normandale...?
I live near Chanhassen/Chaska/Victoria/Excelsior, and always find it fun realizing that other people actually live near me...

Just one more bump for the approaching weekend. As we get closer to the 29th, I'll post again then too.

Thanks!

Hey, Erik: TC proper. Chanhassen/Chaska, that's a little bit far away! Nice drive, though (when it's not snowing). Too bad; my gf would also like to go, but she's debating whether to skip her immersion class too or not (long story).

About the "arrangement": yeah, that'd be interesting. A 5+ hr. drive each way is kind of a 😱 , I should see if a friend of mine in Milwaukee (actually, Sheboygan, but I think she moved a bit farther south) is available.

Can't wait! I honestly don't know which cameras not to bring.

LOL

I'm afraid I'll be unavaialble this weekend. Having just moved into the city from the burbs last week, I need to run some necessary errands this weekend, that and to photograph the city...

yeah, I actually just got my M2 in the mail 2 days ago... and I've yet to get a lens, unfortunatly. I'm looking for a 35 3.5 summaron, possibly a 2.8 if I can find the money.
So, I guess thats gonna be my primary camera.

and then I've got my hunk of metal and plastic they call a Canon 20D. ugh, I really shouldn't have bought that...

ot: Which of the two Summaron-Ms (f/3.5 or f/2.8) have more contrast?

The 20D is a mighty fine camera, although the instand preview does spoil the experience somewhat..

I mean, the Canon is a great DSLR and all, but I really am not that much into the whole SLR concept as much as I was when I first bought it. It sure makes digishots though, albiet I'm not using the finest quality lenses...too poor for that right now.
Just waiting to put that first roll of FP4 through my M2..hot damn it'll be exciting!

It might be fun to go shooting around Lake Calhoun and the Uptown/Warehouse district on a nice day. Bob's Java Hut is always fun to get a drink at, too.
