Hi all,
Shot three rolls of APX100 (new formulation), however here we only get D-76, HC-110, TMax. Was wondering if anybody had used these before in developing this, and what the results were. Did you follow the times from the Massive Dev Chart - were they accurate?
I will go back to the States in July, where presumably I'll be able to get Rodinal.
So the question is, develop now using what's available or wait a few months until I'll be able to get some Rodinal?

Where you are, that there is no Rodinal available?
Beside this, storing non-developed exposed film is never a good idea. APX 100 gets the last punch of sharpness in Rodinal, but I have no doubt, you will get acceptable results also in other developers. I would trust Massive Dev Chart, had never bad experience with.

Should I send you a bottle?Hong Kong. We don't even have XTOL here!
Or Rodinal is prohibited there?

Self-developing is not very popular over here, due to the extreme lack of space in apartments, so we don't have a wide variety of developers...
Another howler is that a bottle of DD-X costs $45 over here!

I liked APX100 in D76 1:0.

I use only LC29, souped APX and now Rollei in it. I'm novice but I like what I get, I don't miss Rodinal, but maybe I'm just too uneducated.

HC-110 will be also not too bad however Rodinal 1+50 and APX 100 / Rollei Retro 100 has a very good look, very sharp, high acutance and a large grey scale.
Para-Amino Phenol and a very high pH (Sodiumhydroxide) can be a problem in regular post.

Found a local seller who has a bottle of Rodinal with about 300 mL left, for about $20. Better than nothing I suppose...

Indeed, better then nothing. The regular Rodinal /R09 one shot 500ml price in Europe is around Eur. 11,50 (US$ 15,50). With a regular 1+50 dilution it's for at least 50 films.

Hi - I regularily used HC110 in APX film, especially APX400, and was pretty pleased with it.
I kept TMAX for newer emulsions like Fuji Neopan or Kodak T-Max 100/400.

Yes, D-76 stock works nicely with APX100. Here is one in D-76 stock, temperature is 24C for 6:30 minutes shot at box speed.

Nice hotrod.
The only reason I am not using D76 stock with my APX100 at the moment is that I have not really been shooting film that regulary and I have a gallon packet of D76. Now I am using a quite a bit more film I will likely mix some D76 pretty soon. I found D76 stock and APX100 to be a great combo with nice sharp crisp prints. I developed for 6 mins at 24 deg. 24 deg is/was the temp my chems are at in the summer time so I usually developed everything at 24deg C. I also like TriX in stock D76 but FP4 I do 1:1.
