aquarium shooting

I was at the aquarium in Camden New Jersey yesterday and I took my M8 with me. I noticed the light levels were on the low side there, and had to keep the ISO at around 640 to get decent shots. Not as sharp as i hoped and the color seemed off a bit (some were blue in cast). I was using a 35mm Summicron version 4. What would be a good lens combination for this type of photography? Is more speed an advantage such as f1.4 and faster? I also had my IR filter on, maybe a bad move.
Maybe my Nokton 40mm would have been better, though not quite as sharp as my Summicron.

How many of you M8 users have used your camera in an indoor aquarium with lower light levels?

For this I use a dslr, macro lens and flash, using a dig RF is not my first choice. As an M8 owner, this would be one of the times I would not use it as my first choice for shooting fish in a tank. For people outside the tanks looking at the fish, or of the larger sea mammals in a show, the M8 would be fine, and could go with or without a flash. JMHO....
