yesterday I saw on TV some photos of Ara Guler, an important turkish photographer; I found them pretty much interesting so I did a brief google search an I found some biographical notes on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ara_Güler

If anybody in Rome by December 16th, 2007 don't miss Ara Guler photographic exibition "The other face of Istanbul" at the Ara Pacis Museum; it really worth the visit!
