I'm a huge fan of RRS and KirkPhoto's stuff. However, The M8 plate seems small from what I see on the website and there is no photo on KirkPhoto. Is there anyone who can give feedback of how it performs, or better still, with pictures of the plate mated to the camera?

Cheers,

Stephen

I use the RRS plate for one of my M8 s and leave it on all the time. It is small but adequate considering the size and weight of the M8. I also have a generic L bracket by RRS that works great on the M8 . It fit perfectly on the bottom but isn t shaped to the side like most L brackets ...but since its adjustable (has slot on bottom that allows positioning) it can be fit nicely. I only use this when I expect a lot of tripod mounting as its not as integrated as a typical L plate. We use a RRS L plate on our 5D with the battery pack..its on the camera all the time.

Kirk PZ-118 is a perfect fit. The RRS plate is an L Plate and very bulky by comparison. I have both and find that the Kirk plate is the most practical for day to day use.

I went through my drawer of leftover Kirk plates and found several that fit the M8 perfectly. The M8 is an easy fit for their generic plates because the tripod hole is centered and the baseplate is deeper than the film M's.
