Chrome is heavier than black but wears much better. Chrome stay looking new until the chrome wears off which will take decades. Black gets a dingy appearance fairly soon.
My only complaint is they do not look as good on black bodies.

WOW I honestly had NO IDEA that they built chrome and black lenses of different materials!
Forgive my ignorance, please!

I've all my lenses in black, just for their weigh. I don't believe there is much difference in built quality, if there is any. One of the reasons that I take M-system is because of the light weight of most of its equipment, and its image quality of course. Besides, as I don't have the chance to take photos in extreme temperatures, the adventure of brass doesn't benefit me.
On aesthetic, black lens matches both black and chrome cameras.

I have 50 Lux LHSA BP (brass) and it weighs more than my 90 Elmarit-M. The balance is noticeably more nose heavy that with, say the 50 planar. Nothing wrong with it but very appreciably changes the handling and I personally prefer the lighter lenses. Still, the LHSA BP lens is wonderfully crafted if a bit heavy (presumably teh same as the regular chrome model)
