Are there any "reasonably priced" but quality prime point and shoots still available?

i lucked out in finding an XA2 for a decent price and i LOVE it but i'm sure it won't last forever.

as we all know, the market is insane for most of the well-known P&S models.

are there any that still occasionally fly under the radar?

do you have a method for finding even the more popular models via Craigslist or Facebook?

i completely understand not wanting to share secrets too...just thought it could be a nice discussion.

Best to find a few thrift stores that get a few in regularly and just visit regularly. Patience is key. I’ve found an XA2, a yashica T2, a T4 Super, a canon autoboy ii, a Trip 35, and an Oly stylus. I may have spent 20 bucks in total (I think I paid the most for the trip, it was 6 dollars)...but over the course of 3 years of looking.

Also keep in mind that less hyped cameras can be equally good! There are ones with fixed prime lenses at f3.5 or 2.8 by Nikon, canon, and Olympus. Some Pentax and Olympus zoom point and shoots also have a good rep, but aren’t hyped. For 2-3 bucks at a thrift store you can’t go too wrong to try them out...

Either one of these Nikons can be had for $20

The top one is heavier, a little more complicated to use, but has better AF and a slightly better lens.
The bottom one is simpler/easier to use, and still takes really nice snaps.

Cameras like the XA are overly hyped on the internet. Huss has shown some great cameras that won't set you back more than $20. If I was going to spend what people want for an XA I'd go buy a Rollei 35 for the same price.

Minolta Freedom Tele. It's got a 38mm 2.8 lens. I think I picked one up for $30. It was actually rebranded by Leica as the same camera! Not sure if they updated the lens, but my copy takes great pictures at 38mm. The secondary 70mm focal length is terrible though, and resolving power is pretty bad.

Shh, don't tell too many people.

It is quite disheartening to see cameras that I used to be able to buy for $2-$3 at Goodwill selling for $90-$120 in the NYC market area. Unless I want to look at it as I've got boxes of $100 cameras sitting around waiting to be sold.
