Cmon... of course there will be a new leica, as fast as they can make it.
Here's how things play out (in my humble opinion): cameras have exceeded peoples' needs for decades now. But they kept improving, because people wanted the improvements, they didnt need them but you know, human nature. Then things hit a brick wall, boom!...there was nothing left to improve. Disaster, the whole industry was in danger. Then, a miracle happened... Enter digital!! People went silly once again, there would happily pay any money for any ancient contraption as long as it had a sensor! They didnt care if it was missing essential components that they took for granted for decades, all that matters is it's digital!
Hooray! We could start from 1950's camera design allover again, and drip feed the market incredible technical improvements every 2 years, and call them upgrades! "Fuji: Here's a compact camera with a real viewfinder! Yes-yes, made out of glass, same as in the 1970s! No, it's not full frame and doesn't fit in your pocket, don't be silly... that's 1980's, we'll give you 1980s next year". No matter, let's all pay $1,200 for this incredible improvement
Of course there will be a new leica, it will be awesome and we will buy it
