Are you ever embarrassed by the number of cameras you have?

With some articles, one is enough. Not so with cameras, lenses, knives, wrenches, screwdrivers, saws, hammers, to mention just a few examples.

Frank, you're not old enough to be my dad...maybe a long lost brother...
I'm still looking for the perfect Ball Pein Hammer to replace the one in my tool case...(I've had it 20+ years)...should have bought a Back-Up when they still made them...

There are only 5 or so that don't work. I stick to a few main ones that I enjoy using the most, and switch between those based on my mood or what I'm going to shoot (not bringing the 5x7 out for candid street shots haha).

For the most part I just enjoy collecting most things photographic. That's why I have the advertising collection, and a decent assortment of darkroom timers as well.

Cool video. Mine are boxed for now. Thought of putting them in my china cabinet as it is only knick knacks but I do need to find places for those then. And I'm not sure it will all fit anyway. My second choice is the printer cabinet since it's not being used.

I'm more embarassed by the number of everything that I own.

My philosophy: "If it's worth having one of something, then it's worth having seven of them!"

I wonder if I'm a hoarder.

I am a hoarder of cameras and odd antiques. I'm thinking it's a fun thing!

Embarrassed, no. I did eventually feel the need to trim away the less often used stuff, and focus on one system (M and LTM) I was up somewhere around 32 cameras...I'm still somewhere in the high teens I think, but whittling them away is a slow process.

I'm embarrassed that I don't use them often enough.
Even now I really dont have enough time to use them often enough, I am always proud of my gear inventory, say:

2 Leica M bodies, 4 M lenses,
1 Nikon DSLR, 5 fixed focal-length Nikkor Manual focus lenses

because whenever I need them, they are there and always ready!

Possibly. I've never felt the need of more than one asparagus kettle. Or torque wrench. Or chopping block for firewood. Or...

Cameras are another matter.

Cheers,

R.

Roger, How witty you are! 🙂 made me giggling

Ditto!

I'm always trying to learn more and buy better tools.

I even have some duplicate cameras, just because I liked 'em.

You never want to end up saying...."I wish I had....."

yeah, i get a bit embarrassed... but i think it's mostly embarrassment over having so many and not using all of them enough.

going to sell a couple once i can find the time to do so....

I'm embarrassed that I don't use them often enough.

Pretty much where I am.

I'm a little embarrassed. I actually shoot quite a bit, but tend to ignore most of my herd. I don't have dozens of cameras, but all my film cameras are very nice, relatively expensive ones that deserve to be shot frequently. I knew I was in trouble when I bought an extra Contax body just "to have", and then another because it was a bargain and I knew I could fix it and also "to have". Neither have had a roll through them on my watch. I feel a bit guilty about that.

I am in no way embarrassed about the number of cameras I own. My wife brought up the fact that she may have me beat with the number of shoes she has collected. I was pretty doubtful in that and told her my collection was somewhere past 40 and I have cameras that I didn't even know I had... Maybe someday we'll lay them all out and compare.

Again, I'm not embarrassed. Could be worse, like rocks, or stamps, or... shoes.

Embarrassed????? NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I lost track a long time ago..... A lot is all I know, but I do use 80 percent of them at least few times a year, so not many of them are going to waste. Most of ones I don't use have issues and I hope to have them fixed some day - Kievman

Maybe a little bit. One of my good buddies is pretty much as into cameras as me, and they say it's addiction when you conceal things from your friends, lol.

I was down to 1 digital body and 3 film ones for a little while, but I just picked up an XA and a Rollei 35S, so now it's up to 7 total. Not tooooooooooooo bad, and at least I don't have any repeats of the same body. Only same lensmount bodies to use as backups in case something has a mechanical failure (2 F mount, 1 M, 1 LTM to M). That's not too bad, right?

I think I have about 18 cameras. I'm not embarrassed by them, but a little embarrassed that I haven't used all of them yet.

Worse. I see cameras and lenses that I can't afford but would like because they would allow me to do what I can't do or cannot do as easily.

GAS is something I struggle with. Sometimes there are cheap alternatives. Instead of spending $100+ for a fast 50mm for my Canon dSLR, I spent $13 (including shipping) for an adapter with AF confirmation that allows me to use my Zuiko OM 50mm on the camera. Now any OM Zuiko or OM mount lens I can find used/cheap can do double duty on the OM cameras and Canon dSLR.

Embarrassed? Not at all. Number of cameras? Not that many. Feeling slightly guilty Nikon Fm2 has half used roll of slide film sitting in it for almost 2 years? Certainly!

Not even close to being embarrassed. I have a cabinet to display them in.

Exactly.

In my house, the cabinet is always a conversation starter and most of my guests are genuinely interested in the history, and story behind my cameras on display.

Plus, it's okay if people think I'm a bit weird. Because I am 😀
