Are you ever embarrassed by the number of cameras you have?

My wife is embarrassed for me... does that count?

I do have to admit that I get a little self conscious when I pull out a huge (to most people) camera like my Fuji GA645 to get a quick snap. I turn it in and it lets out a big whirl as the lens extends... now my extended family just rolls their collective eyes 🙄

No I am not embarrassed at all. I have been shooting for very long time. I still have the first Nikon F that I bought new in 1968. Leicas, Nikon S3s and a few others. I have about 20 cameras but I do seem to have an over abundance of Super Ikonta IIIs and IVs, about nine I think. I just wish I could use them all but, it is time to sell some. I would like to get it down to about 6 or 7 cameras. - Jim

Frequently.. but having read how many camera's some of you guys have maybe I need to rethink my level of embarrassment. I only have seven working bodies all of which get used regularly. I also have two projects waiting in the wings.

No... today over 20 pieces (film) but they were bought in the course of some 50 years and I did not have real reasons to sell them. With each one I have valuable memories.

(The digital ones however are not in this account. They come and go... )

I certainly have more than I need, but most of them are cheap fixed-lens RFs I've picked up along the way for next to nothing and now can't be bothered going through the song and dance of selling them.

My three main cameras I use all the time, all Leicas: a Leica iiic, M2, and CL. I am not the least bit embarrassed that I own them.

The one system I will probably part with soon is my OM-2n and lenses. It's a great system that is just collecting dust (figuratively, not literally). I will then use the money to put toward more lenses for my Leicas 🙂

The last time I counted, I had almost 50 working cameras. Based on the previous posts, that seems to be only slightly above the average count here. Most of mine cost less than $40 and I have run film through all of them at least once to make sure that they worked and had no light leaks.

My wife thinks that it is great fun to open the cabinet where I keep them and show people how many cameras I have.

The only thing which embarrasses me is that I don't get more use out of the Leica IIIf which my daughter and son-in-law gave me for my 60th birthday.

Hmmm, just the 8 for me. And if I had the money my eye are on another couple.
Leica R5 + motordrive
Leica R6.2 + motordrive
Panasonic LZ28
Fuji F5600
Fuji F6400
Yashica GT35
Contax G1
Epson R-D1s

It doesn't embarrass me, I think cameras are wonderful things and I'll use most of them rotationally to keep in touch with them. 🙂

Yes, after 40 plus years of being a happy snapper I have a few. I'd have a few more if they didn't get stolen. I still want to replace that F3 one day! Every few months I think, I must put some of these up for sale so they'll at least get used by someone. but no, I can't sell that one, I used it to photograph the kids growing up and yes, there's a project I have in mind for that one. You know how it goes. Although, I have managed to go from four enlargers down to two! That's an achievement! Of course, they were replaced by two scanners and a couple of printers.

I think I might take a tablet and have a lie down.

For the sake of balance I actually am not embarrassed by how many cameras I have ( one 4x5, one in 6x6 and digital P&S) - I am more embarrassed by how little I get to use them.

And I am even more embarrassed by the fact that I too often think if changing them for "yet-another-better-you-name-it" cameras. Like that would give me more time to use them or would open to me new possibilities my current cameras keep away from me.

... I guess I should seek professional help ...

Do not take the lines above too seriously - I am doing fine - it is just my wife that tries to bring sanity to everything 😛

Embarrassed by my number of cameras? No way. I am chagrined that I still do not have a Calypso in my Nikonos collection, saddened that I let a Leica M2-R go twenty years ago, flustered that I have not found a black Canon L1, and elated that I have all that I do.

No I worked a lot of years to get them. Some guys have expensive boats, motorcycles, sports cars, golf clubs and pay high green fees. No one goes hungry and the bills get paid.

I only have a ZI, a Mamiya 7, a X-100 and a Nikonos. I use the first 3 on a regular basis, the Nikonos only a few times a year. Total 7 lenses. So nothing to be embarrassed about.

I do have just over 100 rolls of Tri-X in the refrigerator but that will be used up sometime this summer.

I think most of answers would be "NO" since the question was raise in a Rangefinderforum which I understand the folks here are somewhat gear addict. It would be a "Big YES" if we were in a car/bike forum or something like that.
