are you polygamous or serially monogamous?

I am a fickle camera lover who loves fondling new cameras. I have been admittedly unfaithful to my cameras but eventhough i feel guilty I cannot resist ... I think this qualifies me as playing with cameras rather than being a photographer.

Are u a camera lover or a photographer. Have u been guilty of polygamy? or have u been serially monogamous? ;-)

I do not think of myself as a Polygamist, but as an open minded individual who refuses to take sides in the age-old debate of which system of cameras is the best. Canon, Contax, Konica, Leica, Minolta, Nikon, Retina, Voigtlander, even the Kodak Motormatic 35; they are equals in my hands. Yes, VERY open-minded and unbiased, which are all GOOD qualities. So much less -negative- than "polygamist".

Hi Nickchew

Polygamy suggests a responsibility for the cameras. I'm fickle. I'll just grab the one that is screaming at me the loudest and go hunting and playing for the day. Works for me.

Don't tell, I do have a favourite , just don't want to upset the others. You understand.

I would never (okay, seldom:D) claim that the choices I have made for cameras are the best, but I knew going into the deal that they were all good. At this point I am very committed to what I have -- the "latest/greatest" does not interest me in the least.

This may sound close-minded, but nothing could be further from the truth; over the years I committed (as in the truest sense of the word: with dollars:D ) to Leica, classic and modern Contax, Nikon, Rollei, and Alpa. Also had the good fortune to use a lot of other good equipment extensively, including Hasselblad. Everything went into the "discard" pile except for Contax I, II, and IIa, Alpa (also kept a few choice Nikkors with an Alpa/Nikon adapter), and Rollei SL66 -- and I could not be more content. Committment is a good thing, at least for me. Whenever I am asked I tell photogs to just pick something and go shoot!

I'm a commited rangefinder user, but have occasional flings with SLRs. In fact, my "other" camera is a Nikon AF!

Then... I also play the medium format game, but not with rangefinders, so, in that sense, I'm terribly unfaithful.

Or rather open-minded, right? ;)

I think I'm the most unfaithful photog.
When I'm in the mood for some mechanical Cha-Chak sound I look up my R.
When I'm in the mood for some autofocus, I call G2.

Worst of all
When I'm in the mood for some colour... I actually knock on the door of S2Pro DSLR...
I feel so sinful ...but happy ;-)

I've been spending more time with my TLRs and far less time with my 35mm cameras or digital camera lately. It just feels right to be with them. If a MF 6x6 rangefinder were to walk into my life, though, I might just propose :)

I admit it. I cheat. I just got a Canon 1Ds and I cheat between my Bessa and my digital cameras.

The 1Ds is just fun to shoot with. The detail is un believable. I tell you though, the bessa goes with me everywhere. The R2 and the 35 1.7 - unmatched in street shooting.

It's a pity some of you feel you have to play the field, a good camera will stay faithful if you treat it right. I'm still with my M3, she's an old gal but I gotta admit, I still love her lines. I mean sure, she has a few scars on top from other guys trying to put thier meters where they shouldn't be, and sometimes she has to wear goggles just to see right but she still can turn heads. She dresses in black vulcanite just for me, you can see every curve and dimple, and boys....when you've been with one of these girls, you learn quick that a flick of the thumb makes her purr and all it takes is a touch of a finger to set her off.
O.K., I admit, there was a time when I had wanderlust, I remember when I bumped into this young black M7 at the camera shop one day, man was she stacked, I couldn't take my hands off of her "M" motor, and when I looked into her eyes all I could see was a beautiful crimson AE readout. She let me fondle her, right there in the store! I knew she was trouble from that day on so I hightailed it home.
I have had other cameras that I let go, some were taken from me in the night by guys that wanted them more. I won't let this one out of my site, she is faithful and all I need ........................................................come on girl, how about a CLA for Valentines day............. oh, you want some Acros, that's my girl............ ;)

I have had several friends hit 40, with an associated mid-life crisis to some degree or another. Some had affairs, some bought fast cars, some changed careers, I bought a Nikon SP. Todd, I see that your wife made the right choice for you!
