Argus A2b question

I acquired an Argus A2B a few months ago ($2.95+ shipping) but was surprised it was missing the shutter lever .
Everything does in fact work just fine with a shutter release cord screwed into the shutter cord connector . Actually it does help eliminate camera shake but I can`t help thinking a shutter plunger might have been originally screwed in there vs a lever .
Is this a possibility? I just don`t see a space where an original shutter lever could have been affixed.

There's supposed to be a release button screwed into the shutter housing, as shown in this photo from theargusa.com:

If yours is missing, I'd guess you'll have the dickens of a time finding one except by acquiring another A-series Argus. It seems like the type of part it would be all too easy to lose.

Another option might be to acquire one of those brackets or pistol grips that has a cable release trigger, and use that to release the shutter... might be more convenient than the original!

Aha! That`s the explanation I been looking for. Seems only the pre war A2b and A2F used this. The later ones I see have a lever .

I`ll keep my eyes open and meanwhile work it with a cable release. Actually it`s pretty easy to hold the camera and use the release at the same time. Now to try it with film.

I`d love to have that missing shutter plunger as pictured above for obvious reason.
However , I can`t help but wonder how much camera movement it produces when pushed.
I was surprised how steady the camera stays at the moment of exposure whenusing a cable release while hand holding. It completely eliminates shutter press movement. Especially important with the slow lens and shutter speeds.

Because the lever and/or plunger are so far out in front camera shake is, as you know, hard to control. I have an A with both the lever and plunger and they are both a concern when shooting although the plunger has the edge.
I don't know why I have both. A previous owner I guess.

The plunger obviously detatches.
