I just got an Argus C-3 of the Bay!

The lense seems loose, and i was wondering if this is normal in the camera.

It has about a 1/2mm of play, both side to side and up and down.

Also when foucusing it is sticky, but i think that it is not the lense, but one of the focusing gears linked to it, is this normal?

Besides that it seems to be in really good condition, the lense is really clean and shutter speeds seem to be good.

Hello Covich,
I have a working C-3 and while the lens seems pretty firm, it is an interchangeable lens. Some movement may be normal. As far as stiff focus, my camera was a bit stiff when I got it form the Bay also. Just a small amount of oil made a difference. It is very smooth now, and the camera works perfectly! They are a lot of fun to use.

I have two C3's in my collection. One has a little play in the lens, just enough to note movement. The other has just enough play to feel. Both are probably OK
Focusing mechanisms can get stiff from sitting. The lube dries out. As Charles says, a LITTLE oil can free things up. My favorite for this application is REM oil. This is a teflon added oil from Remington. It is the slipperyst stuff I've ever used. Apply the tiniest amount with a large sewing needle or similar item. DON'T use the bottle spout! Too much will migrate into other parts of the camera and can do bad things.
They are fun to use, and if the lens is clean, will take sharp photos.
