I recently bought a nice looking Argus C-4 with a 50mm/2.8 coated Cintar (USA) and a 100mm/4.5 Enna Werk (Germany) lens. How do these two lenses compare with similar focal length lenses for the Argus? Unless I am mistaken, this Argus was adapted to allow the use of different lenses.

I am having problems with mounting the lenses and with the rangefinder. Is there a specific way to mount the lenses on the C-4?

This site may be of interest. You can 'ask for help' and they have lots of information.

Also Stephen Gandy has info on the Argus C-44:

He actually refers to the bayonet mount as difficult. I don't want to cut-and-paste his site, out of respect for his material, but you'll find it ably described there.

Thanks for the tip to visit the info at Stephen Gandy's site. What I have is a Geis modified C-4 that has interchangeable lenses. My 100/4.5 lens is the rarest Geis tele. Following the instruction on Gandy's site and on the Argus Group site, I now can mount the lens correctly. Stephen is accurate in saying that this is worst bayonet mount (after the one for the C44). The Cintar 50/2.8 supposedly delivers 128 lpm in the center! This is amazing if true,

Raid,

I'm glad that you can use your lens now! I think you will be pleased with the results if it's anything like my 50/2.8 fixed lens. I don't know how to quantify the results but I've been impressed with the clarity and sharpness. I have some recent posts in my gallery taken with the C4. I look forward to seeing some of yours!

Hi Michael,
I have taken a look atyour gallery and at several photos taken with the Cintar. I hope that my lens will be equally good.
