I was recently browsing through Freestyle photography's website and I noticed a very inexpensive black and white film called arista EDU. It sounded pretty good considering it sells for about a $1.50. I like other films like T-Max and HP5, but I'm tempted to try this film because its so cheap so I was wondering...

Has anyone tried this film before and if so is it worth it?

I'm no expert but I have certainly used plenty of arista.edu film for my darkroom class. I found it to have medium grain and sharpness, but for the price it's hard to go wrong, especially if you're still learnng a lot as am I.

Get the Arista.Edu Ultra. It's made by Foma in the Czech Republic and is just as good as any of the brand names. The 100 plays nice with Diafine too - a good EI200 film at least.

Nice, G'man. I hadn't gotten around to trying my sheets at EI400 yet, so that's nice to see. Wish they made the 400 in 4x5...

As has been said the EDU Ultra is Fomapan and the 100 is supposed to be the nearest thing available to Agfapan 100. I've seen several excellent shots taken with that film and at about $17 for a 100ft. bulk roll from Freestyle it is just excellent value. 🙂
