arista edu vs. II

Joe, somewhere there is an equivalent list. Maybe posted at Pnet in the Classic Camera forum? One is AGFA, one is Formapan, one is .........

I just ordered some of the Edu 100 and understand it's Fomapan and was told the II or Ultra is Fortepan.

In my experience, joe, the ultra is by far the best film of the bunch. The delightful side of irony is that it's also the cheapest. I had some real QC issues with Forte, but everything I've used from Foma has been just right.

Right now, to me, the best cheap conventional black & white film is Fomapan 100 aka Arista.Edu Ultra 100 or the 400 equivalent. Excellent film for pennies. Can't beat that with a stick...

I agree with William. The BEST deal is Arista EDU Ultra. If you want APX 400, though, get a bulk roll of the Arista II. Both are good films.

I, however, have been dying to try APX 400. I'll probably end up with a roll of that and a roll of APX 100 by Christmas.

I'll third and carry for EDU. Ultra :D

It's a traditional emulsion, and once you get over the funky blue base, it's all good. I've been using it in 120 format souped in Rodinal 1+50 and been getting excellent results.
