Arista on Freestyle

There's a sale on Arista b/w paper and film at Freestyle. Thought you guys may be interested.

Arista Pro 50 (Ilford Pan F) - $16.99 for a 100ft bulk roll is hard to beat.

Yes I got an email from them yesterday as follows (the italics are mine):

"We knew that educators and students needed to get the best value for their money, and Ilford knew it too. That's why Freestyle and Ilford teamed together to bring top-quality products to teachers and schools at terrific prices. Due to contractual obligations, we could not disclose the manufacturer as Ilford, but now the secret is out and all remaining Arista black and white products are available at their original prices until sold out."

To me that reads like Freestyle are either dropping the Arista brand or perhaps replacing Ilford with another film source...

As far as I know from an unreliable source - a competitor 🙂 - Ilford wasn't too happy with the deal they had. So the new management may have found a way to cancel this contract.

There was a past thread on Arista film being supplied by Foma(?). Has anyone shot with Arista Pro? Is it really the same as Ilford's equivalent products?

Arista.edu was Forte. Arista.edu Ultra is Foma

Arista Pro was Ilford. Arista II is...not sure. It's made in Germany, so the common idea is Agfa.

I got a 100 feet a while back and have used it at 100 ASA and developed in Diafine, a good combination. I think I will get another couple rolls of 100 feet before its gone.

I get 18 rolls of 35 plus usually a roll of 20+ which I usually use for testing or in one of my half frame cameras.
