Arista B&W films used to be a great deal. Repackaged Tri-X, plus-x, and most recently Fomapan. I've shot hundreds of rolls of their film over the years, but when purchasing chemicals from them recently, I noted that their Arista.Edu in both rolls and 100' is now the same price as branded Fomapan.
Foma has changed its pricing policy:
They have finally realized that by giving away their films and papers at dumping prices to house brand / re-labelling companies they are significantly damaging their business!
Therefore they have increased prices to a reasonable / sustainable level in this house brand business.
All companies which buy Foma materials for their own brands are affected by that! They all have to pay higher prices.
For example Maco / Rollei-Film photo paper is just re-packaged Foma. Same paper, just different brand names and packaging. And this Rollei labelled paper is now significantly more expensive than the identical stuff in its original Foma packings.
Same with Kosmo film: It is just re-packaged Fomapan 100, at a higher price.
So, if you want Foma, just buy original Foma. In most cases from now on its the best deal.
