Aritcle on Alec Soth

Thanks for link, its really interesting.
I was recomended to look at Soth's work by an Eggleston fan.

Alec is I think one of the most intersting cont. american photographers. worth to check out his books. Dog Days has just been published by Steidl. Excellent work!

eek - I mis-spelled "article."

Please, kind-hearted mods, fix it for me. I don't want the man to take my portrait in front of a rusted out '74 Vega on my way home from work and tell me "You look like the perfect model for my new series on 'the pathetic losers who populate the middle states.'" LOL.

I'm serious, someone please fix that. It's embarassing, and the man deserves at least a properly spelled thread title.

"Interesting" is how I view his work. I don't agree with some of his shots, but his Missisippi series was, um, brilliant, I think. I like him more for the fact that he does stuff I don't like/agree with. How boring it can be to turn page after page saying "nice, I like that." Although his sheep in parking lots was a decent indictment of modern American culture. Perhaps unfair, but IMHO at least an honest opinion.

I don't see Soth like Eggleston. More like Robert Frank. Especially Soth's "Sleeping by the Mississippi." A fascinating look at parts of the world. But I can see why a fan of Eggleston would recomend Soth.
