Photobook historian Manfred Heiting's collection of 36,000 photobooks has been destroyed by the Woolsey fire.
That is a real shame and a great loss.
There is something very odd and sinister about those so called California "wildfires".

The irony is that most of the books were probably printed on paper that was made from trees. Not many books are printed on linen paper. I look at something like this in perspective. The fire didn't destroy the actual photographs, so the books can be reprinted, and compared to the homes and lives that have been lost this is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I love photo books, even though they might be able to be replaced, it still has to hurt.
