If you democratize art, it will become worthless. If you make it common, it will become worthless. Didn't these folks learn anything from flickr.com and Facebook?
Is there really enough "Art" to make a mass market for it?

Art is already worthless to 99% of Americans, this website won't make it any worse. The problem the art world has is not prices. While the most famous artists' works are priced so high that few can afford them, there are millions of artists in the USA alone who do not charge such high prices. Despite the fact that plenty of art, much of it very good, is available at prices middle class Americans can afford easily, little of it sells. The problem is not economic, it is cultural. Most Americans see absolutely NO value in art, at all, and wouldn't take it if you gave it to them. Middle class people simply will not buy art, and rich people (the people who do buy art) won't buy it if it is too cheap.

Interesting Chris. Since you are working to make a living with your art I respect and appreciate your thoughts.
However, I consider the photographs I make art and the people who hire me and pay me relatively well think the same. I firmly believe in what Dean Collins said, "beauty is in the eye of the checkbook holder."
Hope you are having a successful 2012 and my best wishes to you for a terrific 2013!
