...does anyone here have a minimalist rf kit?

what does that mean?
2 bodies max, maybe 3 or 4 lenses..

no continual adding/changing of lens line ups...

and do you feel good about it?
can you do what you want with it?

Loving it. Hope to replace the bessa r with a .58 m6 at some point though.
 
1 body, 2 lenses + a Jupiter-3 I need to shim.

To me, minimalist means 1 camera, 1 lens, a hood (or filter if you must) and no gewgaws.

Had one camera, 1 lens for years when I had no money. Wasn't a problem.
 
Although I have 3 different systems (Rollei TLR, SL66 and Mamiya 6) I only have one lens for each of them (obviously the TLR doesn't give you the choice anyway), always a normal focal length and I never feel I need another.

The main thing I feel as a limitation is lack of close up ability on a lens/camera system - I want to be able to focus from about 50cm to infinity.
 
i'm thinking minimalist is where i can carry everything i own, in one bag, all the time and not get tired out quickly.
 
The cameras would be a choice of luxury...I really don't think it makes all that much of a difference whether it's a Leica, a Bessa, or an Epson. Lens-wise, I am with the 28 and 35mm...and again it doesn't matter, at least to me whatever brand they may be.
 
Almost!...Bessa L w 25/4 & Bessa R with 35/2.5, & various 50's like 50/1.5. When I can add a cv75/2.5 I will feel complete!...well I probably will need a slightly larger bag!:)
 
R4M and R3A with 400 and 3200 films, 15-28-40. If I want a tele, I add a T with 90 or a Nikon with 85 or 105, manual or AF depending on the time I suspect the scenes will give me for focusing...

The basic two Bessas with three small lenses weigh nothing. One in my hand, and one with extra lens inside a very small bag. I carry more than that walking all day...

I have an M2, CV 35/2.5 and DR Cron. I sometimes wish for something wider (a 21?) or something longer, but if I'm honest with myself, it's really more than enough. I would, however, like to replace the VC meter I lost in that field in Central Washington that one time. :bang:
 
111b and an 50mm Elmar f3.5, not to suggest that i've had the strength of mind to resist more gear.

I don't have a minimalist kit. Maybe some day I will. But experience will have to determine what the components of that kit would be, and I'm not "there" yet... still enjoying different lenses and cameras, and still figuring out what works for me.
 
does anyone think age has anything to do with our gear choices/philosophies??

as a younger man i quite often trekked in the bush in winter with a big bag of gear and my only thought (gearwise) was to keep it dry...
 
Perhaps experience more than age... Some years are required to try both big and small equipment and see there's no difference in image quality if the same format is used...

Just set up a kit and locked up all my other film cameras and lenses for six months:
Canon 7s with grip
Canon 50/0.95
Canon 85/2
Jupiter 35/2.8
CV 25/4
filters, hoods
All in a small bag to limit expansion.

N.B. This doesn't count my last my Canon F1N AE with 55/1.2 ASPH, 85/1.2, and 17/4 for my last three rolls of Kodachrome.
 
I'm 20 years old and I "only" have an M4 with a 35mm lens. I don't feel a strong urge to get other lenses. Maybe in the future.
 
I have pairs of RF cameras and lenses that go with them.

2x M2 with 50 col. Summicron and 35 f2.8 Summaron

2x IIf with 50 f3.5 Elmar and 35 f3.5 Summaron

CL with CV 21f4 and CV 40 f1.4
Hexar RF with Canon 28 f3.5 and CV 50 f2.5

(The Canon 28f3.5 is coming soon.)
