at long last...my zeiss 85

Looks quite lengthy to my eye, too, and I'm used to the 1960s Elmarit and Elmar 90mm long lenses. TT85 bokeh looks really nice; MTF spec already shows a stellar optical performance. I'm a big fan of slower glass, especially for RF. Will be interesting to get a fuller report of handling and usage.

nice lens at a great price!
but seems to be bigger as expected, eg bigger as my Konica 2,8/90.
I thought it would be as small as a Leica 2/75.
Nevertheless always good light and I understand very good why you're happy
;-)))
Kind regards

I looked up the measurements.

Zeiss 85f4 Tele-Tessar ZM: 54mm wide, 95mm long, 310g
Leica 90f2.8 Elmarit-M: 56mm wide, 76mm long, 410g (black) / 560g (chrome)
Konica 90/2.8 M-Hexanon: 55mm wide, 69mm long, 330g

Ernostar design with a solid reputation for image quality and build quality that is second to none, all for around $500 in excellent condition.

Let's not forget:

90mm f/4 Elmar-C: 270g (incl. hood), 61mm long.
90mm f/2.8 Tele Elmarit: 262g (incl. hood), 68mm long.

Nice kit - now go out and shoot!! We all want to see what the 85f4 can do. I fervently hope it doesn't do it too well - I need another lens like a hole (pinhole maybe) in the head!

the weekend promises great weather and lots of photo opps, i hope to have something to post by saturday night.

right now i am having some difficulty with the external finder. the images are not aligning very well. i seem to be doing better guesstimating using the 50 mm frame lines as a guide.

judging by the lenses i see you shooting/posting with, i doubt that you would even notice another in your bag. 😉

how is it that you have not tried this particular one tom?

I have shot with it - but not enough to warrant an opinion. I also wanted Zeiss to make the hood reversible and have been holding out until they do!
It does create a hole in my Japan made ZM lens collection though and, just like mother nature, I abhor a vacuum like that. Came fall I might break down and get one - oh well.
Hence I am waiting for your stuff with it.
