I just used these and the blog photos in a class Nick. Asked the students to try and work out what period they are from without showing them number 3. None could pick correctly untill they saw number 3. Created a lot of discussion around colour versus B/W old tech versus new etc,etc.. Thanks and nice images
 
Enjoyed all the photos in the blog. Love the contrast you got from the I 61. Seems also that no one really noticed you nor the sound of the shutter.

Really good, Nick! I don't know about you, but I like my Industar lens and I get great pleasure out of making great photographs with inexpensive kits!

I enjoy the images on your blog. I always check everyday for an update :)

I was actually set on selling off my Black Fed 2 and Indust 61LD but maybe I'll hold onto it for those times when I don't want to risk carrying around expensive gear.
 
Wow, great results. Like you, my digital street camera is a X100 and I find it hard to get used to the 55mm Industar. It feels like cheating to shoot people from across the street. I'm now very much looking forward to my first roll of Tri-X with the Industar.

Beautiful! But I don't think you'd have got worse pictures with a Leica. These are an excellent demonstration of the 'quality plateau'. Up to a certain point, a better camera gets you better pictures (e.g Fed 2/Industar versus Box Brownie). Above that level -- which the Fed/Industar combo easily exceeds for these pictures -- the photographer's talent is paramount. I say 'for these pictures' because there are also situations where (for example) an f/1.4 lens might well give better pictures (very low light).

Well only you have thought this was a Leica vs Fed post..why:bang:
Reminds me of a conversation I had just yesterday with a London City and Guilds moderator..he is about 70 and was trying to tell me that only Italians do pasta...i said "have you actually traveled to Asia", some people really need to move on
 
Absolutely beautiful, Nick! You seem to have found the stroke with Tri-X. That guy's herringbone jacket just pops right out. Fine work!
