ATP Promax

I am wondering if anyone has used this card (150x) in their R-D1. I have used regular ATP cards (60x) and have been happy. I wouldn't mind the faster transfer speed and they don't cost much more. However, there have been a few complaints on the DPreview forums from Canon and Pentax users. It's hard to know if these are aberrations or not. Just wondering if anyone here has been using them.

I don't know if it is the same maker, but I use ADATA 150x 1gb cards with no problem at all.

Thanks for your feedback. I bought a couple of the Promax cards today. Tested one and it was fine. Formatted it in the camera. Ran off a 102 raw shots in my office. Transferred the images to my computer. Opened it up in Photoshop, looked at them in File Browser (I still use PS7), and opened a few ithe the Epson Raw plug-in. Didn't see any problems.

Also didn't notice any speed gain either writing t it, or in transferring. The latter may be due to my card reader and hard drive.

I may buy another card, as I'm off to Mexico City next week.

By the way, I had a brief e-mail exchange with one of the people who had reported problems using it in a Canon. He said Canon advised him to format it in camera. He did that, and so far has had no problems, but hasn't filled the card yet.

Those were the fastest 102 shots I've ever done, and I learned about buffer problems (hopefully that explained the sporadic shutter failure).

I have Sandisk Ultra II and the ADATA 150x 1gb cards. I never timed it but I did notice that the ADATA read faster during copying with a USB 2 card reader.

I'm testing the ADATA 2gb 150x card now and will post it in the other thread as to my results.

I am having problems with the second ATP Promax card. These are the same as the reported problems. In a couple of instances, the display said the image cannot be displayed. Then one image which had displayed would no longer disply and a second had the bottom half cut off.
Now I'm worried about how reliable the other one is.

Update 12:55 a.m. est:
When I got home, I accessed the card via Photolier. The two shots which the camera display had indicated could not be displayed did show thumbnails in Photolier. However, when I tried to open them, the thumbnail images morphed into Question Marks, and they would not open.
I then tried opening them in Raw Developer, and they would open.
I am wondering if the card is defective, or if something went wrong in the formatting. I will reformat the card and see what happens. I shudder to think of other possibilities (i.e. in the camera's writing to the card?).

Further update: The image will open with the Epson Raw plug-in in PS7.

Further update: More bad news. I formatted the card again. Took a few shots. Seemed fine. Then the screen showed no images, and the needle went down to zero . Card seems kaput.
Going to buy a Sandisk to take with me to Mexico.
