Audio Gear

I played some Mozart vinyl records today.

My other hobby: Record players in refurbishment, especially Philips, "made in Holland" in the 70's.

Including re-design of RIAA pre-amps for it. "High End" for a minimum price.

Those wood based record players are the best. The arm and the right element/needle with correct adjustment with a protractor does the rest.

For L'viv I can recommend Hotel Envy **** for about US$35 two room, with mini bar, WiFi, safe and own (closed) parking place and with their restaurant with Ukrainian specialities (so many choices). Swimming pool and sauna included. I just tried the pool at 4C outside temperature, the water was around 12C so not too bad .....
1,5km from the city centre.

Nothing to do with any film anymore however to show this audio equipment:

Own design and build wide band speakers on Visaton drivers with the Visaton Boxsim simmulation program. Philips FB820 3 way system in re-foam and re-cap with MKP Visaton audio condensators. Top of the bill Philips Motional Feed Back active 3-way system (40W and 20W amps) 22RH544/79R to get a 30Hz-20kHz -3dB on a small speaker system 40 years old and 40 years in time forward. NAD system with active power control and soft clipping protect, 20 bit Burr Brown D/A in the CD unit. The Philips is from 1986: TDA 1540 mono 14+2 bit D/A but still good. Modified Dynavox TPR-3 vacuüm tube pre-amp with LT1028 OPAMPS in the RIAA. G.E. 5670W JAN Triode or Russian Salyoet 6Н3П Triode tubes.

2x 22GA312 and 2x 22GA222 turntables with own build high end RIAA double pre-amp based on Burr Brown OPAMPS. GP401 elliptical and GP412 Shibata elements-needle.

N4504 open reel deck. I am very surprised of the TEAC and Pioneer decks. Especially that Pioneer I could not afford in the time I had to use it. Professional I have worked on Revox A77, Switzerland.

All my music comes via a laptop (or an iPod in the darkroom) these days. But I repurposed an old Victrola to hide all the modern bits of music reproduction in my Victorian house.

..........

I am also streaming via Spotify Premium. So a Smart TV with Toslink fiber optic connection goes via a nice 24 bit D/A to the input of that modified Dynavox TPR-3 vacuüm tube pre-amp. And then e.g. to this 3-way active Philips Motional Feed Back (MFB) system equipped with MOSFETs in the end amp. It is nice to combine old and new technique together. In these days you have so many possibilities.
