There was an interesting conversation about social media, cell phones, and the future of photography as the Meet-Up wound down.

I mostly listened, but then I had this idea of starting the Meet-Up at the new ICP on the Bowelry because they have an exhibition that explores the new vision discuss above.

Anyways I think this would be a great way to expand the discussion that began at the July Meet-Up that is so interesting. Later after all the arguing, LOL, we can go to Lorelie's for food and beer.

I think doing this show as a group will be interesting, and it is so convenient.

Sounds Good... Make a Date

Helen,

So far I'm not booked up except to have some curator look into my public storage because I'm a "Trunk Gypsy" on Wednesday August 17th. On that day I'll be videotaped interviewed.

Currently I am one of 18 selected after the cull of the first round. From the 18 ten artists will be selected for exhibition at the Manhattan Mini Storage on Spring Street in Soho on October 6th. The exhibition runs only 10 days.

"Fresh Out Of Storage" is run by "No Longer Empty" a non profit that does pop-up exhibitions all over the city in empty spaces.

Check out my competition at www.FreshOutOfStorage.com.

My idea of mirroring the housing bubble seems to be paying off; the idea riffing off the real estate concept of build luxury housing and some rich people will buy it regardless of cost or demand.

You are welcome to pick a date that is good and easy for you. The last meet-up was particularly interesting. I ended up getting home pretty late.
Our group is full of wonderful interesting people.

So looks like I have another curated show coming up, but this time it will be limited to only photographers. My friend Mike (fashion photographer) is going to curate this show of photographers he personally knows. The location is in some loft in the Bowelry not far from ICP.

The owner of the loft and Mike have some arrangement, but all the details like the date and such have not been agreed upon.

Gear update #2

Okay so I'm in that medium format mode and I purchased 2 Rolleiflex's a 3.5E with
a Zeiss lens and a 3.5F model 2 with a Schneider lens. I've been using both to see
which is better but now I have a winner and it's the 3.5E with the Zeiss, it's just that
it's sharp as a tack and the color even on cloudy days is great. I guess it's bye bye to
the 3.5F.

Bob,

I understand that the Zeiss lenses have more contrast and saturation, but the lower contrast of the Schnieder Zenotar is also useful, but for different reasons. Also know that the perceived sharpness is mostly due to the added contrast.

The Zenotar being a "F" is the latest most advanced version of the Rollie with a different lens formula with 6 elements rather than 7 elements of an "E."

Also consider that you only have 12 shots and the workaround that Diane Arbus used is that she carried three loaded Rollies in a knapsack for fast paced shooting and to avoid missed shots due to loading. Two in a Domke 803 bookbag is really compact, especially 3.5F's. I use to carry my 3.5F "Whiteface" and a Tele Rollie in a Domke 803 all day and didn't feel weighted down.

Anyways it would be interesting to see how your super sized height works out with shooting at waist level. If I could I would try to keep the two Rollies as a pair and enjoy their differences. Also know that many-many more 2.8 Rollies were made. 3.5's are a bit novel in that fewer were made than 2.8's.

But I can't forget my Hasselblad and Rolleiflex 6002, I got for a song. Oh
I forgot if anybody interested in a Hassey 500cm body and film back let me
know.

I've been dying to get my mitts on a Rolleiflex 6000 series. On a whim, I saw the Schneider 80mm F2.0 on Craigslist and bought it. It's been sitting on a shelf for awhile now with no body to attach to. I'd love to test it with you if we could arrange that!

It seems that all these shots for Maggie's blog get several thousand likes.

A Monday Instagram shot got over 3K likes by yesterday. On the first day over 1K likes.

Somehow I have become an "Accidental Fashion Photographer." LOL.

That little guy I'm not selling yet besides I don't think you could use
that lens on that body.

Pretty sure you can use it on that body. It will fit the 6001,6003 and 6008 so I'd think it will fit the 6002.

No need to sell the body I was just interested in seeing some test shots from it :).

If I wasn't so busy, it would be great to come see you guys again. Perhaps September.

John,

Thanks for scouting this out. I will check it out. Last Meet-Up was rainy/cloudy and Lorelie's was not crowded. The moody weather made the Meet-Up better, and we had more space without all the crowd noise.

Yesterday I was in a loft on the Bowery helping my friend Mike do a fashion shoot with "Maggie" as the talent. Anyways it was a full crew and the loft was borrowed as a location from a friend of Mikes. Anyways 6 "looks" were shot. We were shooting an "editorial" promoting a designer. The work came out amazing, and I was deeply impressed. Mike and Maggie assemble a really great team. The day was intense.

Really interesting to see the use of a tethered camera using Capture One, and all the teamwork involved in a shoot like this. Of course one meets all these interesting artists that have crazy lives.
