Gear Whore #1
ICP is a bit downsized. Kinda more like a gallery than a museum, and no way a 200 large print Salgado show would fit in the new gallery.
GEAR ALERT: Joe lent me a Nikon F5 that I will likely secure. I like the Leica "Q," but I don't have the cash flow, so I kinda built my version of an autofocus 28 with a fast lens for shooting film: a Nikon F5 with Nikon 28/1.4 AF-D. I cannabilized a DK-17 VF'er magnifier and AH-4 handstrap to rig it out as my street rig. Kinda evil.
Anyways heavier than my D3X with 58/1.4.
I also bought another paper spool so that when I change rolls it is less work. You know me; I'm a lazy slacker. Found one brand new marked down to $125 less than the going B&H and Adorama price of $147.00. Then I had an Amazon $40.00 gift card that was found money.
"Maggie" was sighted on a small billboard in Brooklyn by John and Pro-Mone (Corcoran Real Estate ad). A while back she was video-interviewed in a 58 and a half million dollar penthouse on top of the Puck Building as part of Corcoran's lifestyle online magazine. There is a similar ad on Madision Avenue somewhere in the 80's in Madhattan. Now people must think we are wealthy. LOL.
Today there will begin a campaign at all the Eileen Fisher stores as part of "She is an Icon" feature. Maggie now has 48K followers, but know that 50K is a benchmark where really big things begin to happen. A second big event will begin in September.
Anyways with Fashion Week and the beginning of a semester I expect the next three weeks to be rather crazy. Anything is possible. One opportunity that did not happen was the possibility of being recruited as a runway model for New York's Fashion week. A make-up artist recommended Maggie to a designer. The crazy thing is that one does not know if they got the gig most times until the day before. Anyways that's how it works: all at the last moment. This year Maggie gets "invited into the tent," but unlikely I will be included.

Check out this movie trailer that is kinda relevant to the ICP show presented by the media site Refinery 29.
Kinda relevant to street shooting. Love the B&W, the slow pans and slow zooms with the voice overs.
This trailer is testing the waters to become a featured production. Four great interactive narritives of a gay black man/veteran, a woman with a rare disease that causes her to have no hair, a fashion blogger who is an older woman, and a transexual man who was imprisioned.
Of course this is so New York.
I know Ben will love this.
