I can barely find any (bar Ken Rockwell's) opinion on Auto Close-Up Lens attachment for Mamiya 6 + Mamiya G 75/3.5. Does anybody use it? Is it worth considering - not necessarily for true macro (a range-finder simply doesn't suit), rather for portraits, when I don't have any other camera at hand. For sure i deteriorates quality, but the question is how much.

Apparently no one has any experience with an autoup for the Mamiya 6. Frankly, I had not heard that they made them either. They did make them for the older Mamiya Six RF that focused by moving the film plane.

I guess you have to consider what are the alternatives. You can use closeup filters if the Mamiya 6 has a mark to show where the film plane is. It's best done with a tripod and measuring tape, but can be done hand held.

The above is an example of being able to hand hold. Obviously on a tripod would have allowed much better framing.

EDIT: BTW, the photo was taken with a Canonet III 1.7, not a Mamiya 6.
