Auto-Up for SP?

This is an SP accessory, but when I googled it I found only software for uploading computer files:

Please tell those of us who don't have a Rotoloni book what it is and how it works. It seems to have a fitting for a hot shoe at one end. Is the crosspiece a flash unit that's been attached backwards?

What's shown in the auction is only half what you'd need.

The auto-up is a kit with close up filter (for the lens) and close up goggles (as shown in the auction) for the viewfinder. The goggles are secured via the shoe.
