I bought my first Autocord, used, for $39.95 in the early sixties. They listed for $99.95 at the time. I gave that camera many years of hard use, weddings and commercial work and a few record album covers. I wish I still had it!

That lens is great. I've never been a fan of Japanese optics on TLR's and preferred the look of the Xenotars and Planars, which are a bit of a step up from the Xenars & Tessars, but these pics show the Autocord is in the same league as the best of the Germans. That's been my experience w/ Rokkor lenses in 35mm too. Every bit as good as the Leicas and maybe better.
Not crazy about the bokeh on the B&W portrait. Seems swirley like a Summitar, a lens which drove me nuts w/ it's OOF imaging. This image is the only one that doesn't look like the others, so maybe avoiding busy backgrounds and wider apertures would fix it. Otherwise, the lens has a real 3-D look. Good stuff.

Never try a Ricky Gervais answer to the above

I've always admired your photos and this is no exception. I hope the Autocord works out for you. I received my Autocord back from a CLA and have run almost two rolls and so far all looks good.

I haven't used my Autocord in a while. I've been focusing more on prinkmaking (of the linoleum variety). But I'll be going to Arizona - Sedona and the Grand Canyon, next week for Thanksgiving and I'll be using it in conjunction with my new Canon s90.

I hope your autocord is fine now
Mine look very clean, I hope the shutter will work for a long time, because it is said that not so much people can repair it

le vrai rdu,
Wonderful rich tones. So are you enjoying the Autocord? it seems that whatever camera you use would yield great photos. You certainly have the eye!

I prefer the ergonomics of the Autocord. That focusing lever (until it breaks) beats knob focusing! Also, the reversed film feed direction means that the frame you'll shoot next isn't making a sharp right angle bend while awaiting its turn to make an exposure. The Yashicamat, 12, 24, and 124 all have a 4 element Yashinon lens which has a different look than the 4 element Rokkor on the Autocord, but it's a matter of taste. The Autocord feels as smooth as a Rollei, a lot smoother than a Yashica.

Yes, I agree, the focusing lever is quite fantastic
and the lens are quite different in there rendition
mine is from 1955 and is quite old school, I love it

Half a century ago a Yashicamat was $60, an Autocord was $100, and the Rolleiflex T was $185. Today that would put the Autocord in the $600 range and the only competition would be the Chinese made Seagull, hardly in the same class. I'm wondering if there'd be enough market for a new production run?

trouble with theses camera is that once you sold it, it last for a very long time, quite troublesome for a seller
