Automatic shutter release

Forgive the stupid question - but is it possible to take a photograph with the self timer / automatic shutter release method with the Epson RD1? If so, does one need an external cable or is there an easiest way, via a button? Thanks.

A flexible cable (old glory) should work.
I'm using it normally, just screw it on the shutter button.
I saw a self timer that can be screwed on the shutter button, too.
It has some kind of mechanical timer that will fire the shutter.
I've seen it on the bay.

You will need a mechanical timer device that screws into the shutter release button. It works well.
