B&W when color just would not do...

Have you ever saw a scene that was meant to be photographed in
black-and-white? Color just wouldn't do. Well, share it with the rest
of us. And, if by chance you also have the color version, or close
composition, of the same scene, post that as well.
Well, here's what I dug up:
Rainbow Falls, Adirondack Mtns., N.Y.

Toyo 45A, 135/5.6, 210/5.6 Rodenstock Sironar, at f/22, 2 sec, 4 sec TRI-X, Kodak EPP 100

Both great photos, not sure if I prefer the BW or colour.

I think you're right, I like colour because it's easier to imagine oneself being there (IMHO), but I like BW because it's almost more 'symbolic' of a subject.

On my screen the B&W looks to have better tones to me. Nothing bad to say about the colour but I would have converted as well.
