…last time it was a TLR and 2 RFs…but this time (I've made a list of shops I visit every time)…

Canon FTb with a 135 3.5: 1500 yen (~15USD) off the "junk shelf". Everything seems to work well and cosmetically alright too.

Somewhat large cleaning marks on the front element and the rear element might need a good cleaning…foam starting to melt, as with most cameras of its age…the yarn light seals are still there —*had to glue one corner back in place.

Currently running a test roll through it. Really not used to mirror slap anymore…

With price tag.

A slightly clearer photo now that I'm back home.

Yarn light seals? 😱 You mean these are desended from Kiev camers?

Who knew?

😀 😀

Congratulations! It really looks nice. If that works, that's a nice catch. Waiting to see the photos and hear how it works.

Yep — yarn!

Thanks to the weather, it's going to take me a long time to finish this test roll. Especially as I literally only have the 135 3.5. Probably going to buy an F-lens>FD mount converter if I'm satisfied that the camera's alright (so, after this roll) so I can make use of the few lenses my grandpa handed down to me (as well as dad's 2 cabinets of lenses).

Am I the only one who was tricked into believing this was a thread about traveling to Osaka and the photos you took there with an *gasp* SLR?

I've been deceived! Now make with the pictures, lol.

Well, that's two cameras I have now heard about that used yarn. Sounds silly, but in fact it seems to work quite well on my Kiev. I haven't had a light leak since I installed them based on what I read on the KSS. The yarn I bought had a very slight sheen to the fibers so I did run over it with a black felt tip marker. Works well.

Looking forward to seeing photos from your new camera.

I redid my Mamiya TLR's with black yarn and Elmers Glue and all was cool. Used to shoot weddings with them. Put them loaded with film facing the sun on my back deck to light-test them. Never had a problem.

Well I got the negs back today. Didn't get them scanned so there won't be any uploads, but viewing under a loupe showed no light leaks and good focus.
