Wondering whether the Nikon managers have contemplated bringing this camera back to life.

First time I hear someone non Russian pronouncing Nikon normally.
Indeed it is nikOn, not shoe brand name.

Actually, Nikon itself has stated that it considers any of the three pronunciations correct:
1. Nick-on
2. Nee-kon
3 . Nigh-kon

To me, it's 'Knee-Kon' but I'm not picky.

Same situation with Rolleiflex. I am probably saying it wrong, but I rhyme the "Rollei" with "jolly". Too many years listening to Gregg Rolie I think....

I think Nikon are happy with any pronunciation as long as it rhymes with Ker-ching
And yes, I'd like to see a manual film Nikon produced again. I'm happily using a 1975 Nikkormat FT2 at the moment.

Luckily I have one of this. It was the last film camera that I have ever bought.

I had a former colleague who was not German, but attended university there, also pronounced it he same way you does. I still pronounce it as "rolly" out of habit.

Nikon even pronounces it differently in different countries in its own commercials.
Knee-kon was my dads preference, I assume that’s the way it was said in Japan back in the early 50s when he was stationed there...

It took a Worldwide pandemic for people to learn Canceled is spelled with one “l”, not two.

It might be correct in the US but the only correct way to spell it this side of the pond is 'cancelled'.

LOL. Not something to get bent out of shape about. Of course the same word is pronounced differently in different countries. Americans say "Par-iss," the French say "Par-ee." Don't get me started on Mosk-va. Don't believe me? Just ask NPR's Maria Hinojosa. You guys slay me. . .
[At the risk of getting back on topic: the Nikon FM series is/was my favorite. I still have an FM2 that is just so solid . . . great, great cameras.]

Whenever reading the glowing testimonies on film revival world-wide, one has to wonder why none of the established camera makers are bringing an analog camera to the market. Cheers, OtL

Lots of money to get it in production, no realistic prospect of a worthwhile profit.
That'd be my guess.

That and the availability of used equipment. A new FM3a at twice the price of a used camera probably won't attract many buyers. Now if you changed the name to Leica …

If Nikon ever does make another run of FM3As, I would be very interested. However, it's pretty clear to me that, except for Leica, every camera manufacturer is only interested in selling digital cameras that they can obsolete every 18 months when they push the new model out to "social media influencers" to do the "You NEED to upgrade NOW!" videos and blog posts. Nobody is interested in making and selling cameras that will last you the rest of your life. Also, I don't think Nikon is interested in producing anything that doesn't work with their "G" autofocus lenses without aperture rings (which is why I believe the Df was hobbled without a proper focusing screen for manual focus).Whenever reading the glowing testimonies on film revival world-wide, one has to wonder why none of the established camera makers are bringing an analog camera to the market. Happily I have two forty year old Nikon FEs that are doing just fine. If the electronics in those ever die, I have even older Pentax cameras that work just fine with no electronic mumbo jumbo.

You lot do realise that thieves pronounce the name as "Nick 'em", don't you?
