Back to the joy of film photography, but now it is Digital

Go for it, Akiva!

I am now using my M8 and M9 without feeling the need for any updated models. Film cameras have become of secondary importance, but I have found applications where film is needed. If I want to use the Hologon 16/8 with a full frame digital M, there are color issues and smeared corners unless a software is used to correct such issues. It is easier to use a Leica M3, say, and get great results directly. A second example is the Hasselblad SWC. It is a unique film camera.

In the end, it is human nature to do what is easier and gives acceptable results.

If you shoot film because it is cheaper, you are missing the point.

I did not say that shooting film is cheaper than digital. I said that the cost differences are trivial depending on how you go about it.

I was trying to get at the idea that people in the thread are saying that they like film photography, but they are leaving it because of the cost of commercial processing. Two alternatives are to go fully to digital, or to go to home processing. Either is fine, but I see some rationalizations based on false economy.

Just experimenting with exposure.

I have never lost the joy of doing photography regardless of what capture medium or camera I happened to be using.

But since I do like many old film cameras, several of which I still have and use, the closest thing to them in a modern digital camera I've found so far is the Leica M-D typ 262.

I dont see much difference in use between digital..or film..or cell phones for that matter..they are all just boxes w/glass to collect light in one manner or another..the composition is the reality ..not the box w/click..
But that said..if I was going to shoot film..and ruin my lungs sniffin chemicals..it would probably be med format on up ..for the print quality..
