I have to comment further; I'm amazed how you have gone through, shall we say, a rough patch and then broken free with these images. I really like them all. I don't know if it's your creativity returned, the RD1, or a combination of both.
These images are certainly inspiration for me to keep on moving forward. Your public journey is is very informative for us all. Congrats on some great work.
The question now is what about the X100? This is almost like a reality show. (In a fun way)

Best comment I've read all night!
Joe, the X100 is really cool and fun (awesome viewfinder, and some macro ability to boot!), but the R-D1 is you, as I said. Not that there's anything wrong with owning both and having fun.

So, Joe, now you are revived. Glad to see it.

sometimes maybe too public...
not sure about the x100...it is a great little machine and i would hate to give it up...but the rd1 and i do seem very well matched.
i might wait for the x10 to see what it's like (as a walk around camera)...sell the x100 and buy it and another lens for the rd1.
or maybe sell it and take another trip...
lots of options and no real rush...

Those are really nice shots Joe. Have u thought about setting the x100 to full manual in terms of exposure... It could be that the rd1 is forcing u to slow down and u have time to think about things more. On the other hand if x100 is not for u then it is better u find out about it now while u can resell it for almost the same as u paid for it.

i use both cameras pretty much the same...i don't shoot quickly for the most part but i wouldn't be called a slow shooter. and i don't shoot many exposures either, about the same as when i shot film.
i like the x100 but might sell it for another good lens...problem is i have narrowed my lens choices down and am happy with what i currently have...not sure what i might want to add.

Nice shots. The RD-1 is simply a fun camera to use and it always delivers.

back alley, i know from your posts that you've been a hardcore R-D1 user, so i was wondering which 3rd party batteries you recommend and where you get them?
i'm currently in the sad situation where both my Epson oem batteries lose charge only after 20 shots or so... i know there's a whole slew of batteries to choose from and much has been written about them, but that's also what's causing confusion. i would prefer it if someone reputable, i.e. you, could point me in the right direction!
thanks,
dunstan

i use the lenmar brand battery. i get them from 'mdbattery' on ebay...i think they are about 12 bucks each. they last longer and hold a better charge than any other 3rd party battery i have used.
