I am looking for a backpack for laptop and camera.

Also, I hope the backpack looks good with semi-suit style.

I love to have some extra space for my books as well.

Now, my eyes are on ONA the camps bay backpack, but it is too expensive for me.

Any other recommendations for my need?

Thanks,

not much. usually a kit of leica or nikon. no more than one kit.

but I need some space for textbooks for school.

Your best bet is to spend some time on the B&H or Amazon web site, it's the only way you can find the right size, the right price, the right looks. You really can't go wrong with a major brand like Lowe Pro, Tamrac or Temba.

I would probably look at some non-photo bags and adapt them to carry the camera gear you need. Books aren't really going to work in a photo backpack.

Yes, I have made this work. There are so many padded camera inserts out there now, and so many daypacks / backpacks. Personally I like REI.

I have Swiss Gear, nothing fancy, backpack for something like five years now.
Went to UK, USA and all over Canada with it. Strong enough to carry on heavy light stand sand bag.

It has two compartments for LapTop and books. And one large one, which takes extra books or anything and insert for camera kit stays on top in this part.

Works well with large tripod on its side as well.

I also really do like those swiss gear type of backpacks. I actually have one of those.

But I need a backpack when I wear a suit or a semi-suit style.

My bad, for this I'll ignore any backpack, it looks goofy, IMO.
I have another swiss-gear model for it. Just large computer bag, black in color. Two soft compartments for large laptop and books, manuals. And one large enough for insert for camera, lens and flash.
Where ara inserts on e-bay.

which camera & laptop?

fits fuji x-series body w/lens attached + 2 additional lenses. this compartment can be pulled out and toted.

here's a business-like (me thinks) form-factor:

fits a macbook air 11.6". however, i've got my mba 13.3" sticking out an inch.

you can easily do a fuji x-series body with two separate lenses, stacked (in front compartment).

all your accessories and other misc items (in rear compartment).

so, here's the whole view:

it has two neoprene pockets. a larger and smaller. for my x100s setup, i have the x100s + rrs grip in the larger pocket and my LiM hood reversed. the smaller pocket has my 3-filter case with my ef-x20 stacked on top of it.

for my x-e1 setup, i have the body + rrs grip in the main pocket. (i'm almost certain you can fit the x-e1 + xf27 attached.) the smaller pocket has my xf14...

...and xf35 stacked on top of it. (can't find the lens cap at the moment.) i wish they made a double-sided rear cap (for two lenses) for the x-mount lenses like i've seen for the leica R- and M-mounts.

Thanks. So the body goes in w/o lens then. I wonder if the pancake on the body will fit..

Btw. I made my own double sided rear lens caps by using epoxy. I roughen up the ends first and get it cleaned up before I apply the epoxy. Apply it to both ends w/ enough to make sure that when u put the ends together that there is enough epoxy to make a good hold since there is a ridge at the ends of the caps. I bought third party lens caps for this. Make sure u let it cure for at least 24 hours before first use.

gary,

yeah, i think you could fit the x-e1 + xf27 in that pocket. on another forum (http://www.seriouscompacts.com/f98/27f2-8-pancake-maybe-permanent-fixture-my-xe1-20660/) someone posted their x-e1 + xf27 next to their x100 (+ rrs grip), and it definitely looks smaller depth-wise. actually, i'm sure it will fit -- i've even stuffed my x100s in their with the LiM hood facing forward. the front of the bag bellows out anyway.

i haven't bothered gluing two rear caps together for my x-system, yet. i've done it with my nex system, but using jb weld. i just need to find some better quality third-party caps.

I used to carry a leica kit or nikon (F3hp) kit.

and 13.3 inch macbook pro.

Don't think my stuff will fit in the bag, but nice bag. :)

that reminded me of my incase i used to use with my past 13.3" mbp which got stolen. i later used it for my 13.3" macbook unibody which tsa dropped. i just now tried it out with my 13.3" mba (haswell). check out what i've fitted...

shallow pockets meant for tucking the handles away when using shoulder strap or bag as a sleeve to slip into another bag. they're perfect sizes that fit three spare batteries and three different lenspens. and i don't see them falling out even when sprinting around the streets.

two expandable front pockets (which share the same zipper). i've got my x100s with the complete RRS-style grip + L-plate in one pocket, and my 3-filter case and ef-x20 flash stacked on top of it.
