Hi,
Wish I was in SF. Always wanted to go there. And meeting fellow photonerds is fun as well. But stuck here. Might go out shooting for myself... sniff.
About blank rolls. I know for a fact (former insider in the business) that if labs screw up big time they sometimes process blank rolls and then blame the customer for the screw up. I'm not saying this is what happened in your case, but if they have screwed up your third roll they might just be trying to remain some of their dignity. Sad but true.
Happy shooting in SF and good luck dev.

I've thought about the scanning thing, but like ipods, the scanners just keep getting newer and cheaper and all. By the time I got taround to using it, it would be obsolete. When I'm at costco, I sometimes get tempted by Photoshop Elements, but it seems like the gateway drug to the evil PS, so I've been strong there
That's a great idea about a developing competition. I'd be happy to supply the official test rolls and judge the results!!

RayPA said:Oh, now you want SCANNING too?!!You're a big boy. You can do your own processing. You don't process, you don't scan, and you don't use photoshop. I suggest you and Randy get together and work together to overcome your fear of b&w processing. Spend some of that camera and lens budget on some processing and scanning equipment.

Now, if Mike needs me to process a roll to do some comparative processing for him, I can oblige. No problem helping out those who help themselves.

Ignore It (It'll go away)

that would be comparative developing, not competitve.
Unfortunately, unlike ipods, film scanners aren't flying off the shelves, and I would wager that the demand is considerably less. It's going to be interesting over the next several years to see how much further companies will take film scanner development.
@Lance: Hopefully, you'll make it out to San Francisco one day. We have a lot of photo nerds/dorks out here!
