Joe, Rover, that bag looks really attractive to me too. Seriously, if we can do a group buy, count me in.

I did a google search earlier today looking for a US, or closer, wholesaler or importer of these bags. I didn't find any. He would have an exclusive product.

Working in automotive, it seems that all our suppliers decide to give us cooler bags for Christmas. So now I use a decent size cooler bag (nicely padded) which had a couple of extra pockets (almost a picnic bag, really) and I've put a peice of foam from a set of wine glasses down the centre to divide it into two sections. Works a treat, cost me zilch!
Cheers,
Steve

I will have to try to talk Huck Finn into joining in, that will save us one shipping fee.
Kyle, are you in if we can make this happen?
Joe, tell your buddy that his first shipment is already sold out.

Also, if looking for domke clones, don't forget MEKKO. I had the opportunity to handle one in a shop on Boulevard Beaumarchais when in Paris, and it seemed very high quality. If I remember correctly it was priced way cheaper than the competing lowepros - I was on a tight budget then but I nearly bought one.
Actually took my better half out for dinner instead...
Saw some of them selling in at least 2 different shops on boul. beaumarchais, so I suppose they were legally imported. Maybe there's a chance they can be had in the US and canada as well...
Hope this helps,
cheers,
phil

The bag thing is a good idea but you need to have the funding to bye a lot at one time and a way to distribute them. The bag business in general has been in China for about 10 -15 years and the balance is from Korea. There are a number of big companies that do bags from here but in truth it is not a product line that I know that much about. I'll look at the website and see if I can find out who they are here which is harder then you may think.

I will send an email to the ebay seller.

Rong Jin (the eBay seller) is actually looking for a U.S. based distributor. Joe's friend might want to talk to him.

I'm interested in one of those Safrotto "like domke" bags too.

Oscar the one on the left is not a CF 700, the one on the right is though. Maybe later on today I can take a pic of mine with gear in it so you can see what the inside looks like...

I'm still looking very much for a bag that is pickpocket proof. No matter how nice and sturdy a bag is (and these copies look pretty damn good) if it ain't pickpocket proof it's useless to me. In my own town I know what to expect and what to look out for, mostly even unconsciously, but when I'm elsewhere I want a bag in which my gear is safe from thieving hands so I can concentrate fully on shooting (even in a thick crowd) instead of constantly worrying about my gear getting stolen.
I have yet to find a bag like that so I just keep throwing it all in my daypack and worry....

Oscar I got mine from an eBay seller called Rong Jin. He's at the link rover posted above. Attached is a pic of my bag with stuff in it.
Left compartment: 90mm Tele-Elmarit, CV 35mm pancake
Middle compartment: M6 + fully extended Elmar-M 50mm
Right compartment: Kobalux 21mm, Russar 20mm finder, mobile phone
Front pockets: filters, film
More than enough!!

Thanks Gene. Actually I'm going to use this bag as a briefcase. There's a pocket in the back that will hold regular sized office folders, take a couple of lenses out of the main section and then you've got plenty of room for wallet, keys, pens etc. Its a pretty useful little bag - more flexible than I had imagined.
Now that I've got one, I understand the popularity of the Domke F-803 and the J-803. They are smaller than the F-802 but more expensive, presumably because of their popularity.

Nice !! I admit I like the dual purpose on these bags, they resemble the one I use to carry around all the time and would like them even if I didn't carry a camera in them.
I'll try to email the eBay seller for the availability of the darker one, my brother also loves this kind of bags and maybe shipping costs will be more reasonable with a couple of them...
