D'oh!
I prefer a camera bag that shows wear and tear because it matches the owner.

since this seems to be about domkes...
a J-803 arrived here today and the insert is literally ****. you can pull out the padding of the insert at the sides, the sewing is not properly done and I fear I'll rip it into pieces when I pull it out. it seems very flimsy. might protect but will not really last long. the bag had some wear on the closing mechanism of the main flap. going to send it back immediately but a question remains:
is every domke insert like that?
it looked like it costed less than 2€ on a discount shop on a random item table. really bad quality (okay I might be spoiled with billingham/thinktank but it's the same price point in europe. it costed 150€ with the 1-insert vs 165 for the hadley large or 125 for city walker 10 and the others are so immensely better when it comes to inserts)
I'm just really shocked at the quality and the price. so many people around here praise domke bags (and I found the quality and silence of the velcro and the bag to be great) and the bag seems to be good but the insert? I mean come on... although they cost less in the states than over here. damn distributors...

Seconded. I have a couple of Tamrac bags of similar vintage, which all are fine. But of course, the quality of a 25 year old bag won't tell much about their current products...
Agreed. And current Tamrac bags are much heavier than the old ones.
